1. 4-Month check-up: The boys had their second set of shots and did SO much better (mommy did too). I didn't have to witness that awful look of surprise and pain because I buried my own face in Caleb's and held his little hands. Braxton and Daddy were across the hall. Part of me felt sad that I wasn't there with Braxton, but I actually think it was better that way. They only gained an ounce over the past two weeks...OR I am terrible at reading scales and the previous weights were wrong. Either way, the doctor says that they look wonderful and they've almost tripled their birth weight (at 4 months, they should be double their birth weight). He told us that solids are not necessary at this point, but that we can start (cereal) between 5 and 6 months if we want.
2. Cloth Diapers: I recently decided to give cloth diapering a try for a few reasons:
1) We've milked our baby shower diapers for as long as we possibly could. Beleive it or not, this was no easy feat. I've traded size 1 for size 2, Pampers for Huggies, Huggies for strollers, clothes for more Huggies, Pampers for movie tickets...you name it. I actually conduct more transactions with diapers than I do with cash.
2) The boys are allergic to something in Pampers, and the cheap diapers force me to change them every hour, leaving Huggies which are super expensive and still guarantee at least one poop blow-out per day.
3) Cloth diapers are so much better for the environment. Okay, reason number 3 is probably so irrelevant to me that I shouldn't have even typed it. But it's true.
I've been alternating the CD's on each baby by day. Monday was our first go at it and by the end of the day I was ready to slap myself (and every tree-hugger out there that convinced me to try this) right in the face. I did everything wrong. I didn't do enough pre-washes, I folded them the wrong way, I changed them every time they even drooled like they were going to go potty. It was a mess. And I dreaded telling their dad who said that cloth diapers +baby=freak in the making (not in those words exactly). Day 2 went much smoother. I did some more research and found some new ways to fold and I gave the diapers another wash. Today was actually pretty good. Caleb was in them all day and had one leak after an almost 3 hour nap. Not bad. The thing that I do love about them is that I have not had one poop leak in them. I can't tell you what a plus that is.
3. Pictures!: The first two are of the 'rents and the boys after our first "chilly" walk. I'm so glad it's fall (for 3 days). The next two are of Caleb and his cloth diaper. Sorry Brax, your pictures didn't make the cut today:)
