So I gave it another shot and this one actually fits! The construction leaves much to be desired (I haven't figured out how to sew knit without it being wobbly), but he's wearing it, he's dry, and it was free (another receiving blanket) so I can't complain! Thank you Anonymous person who commented yesterday with the links. They were very helpful.

   Yay !!! It looks awesome (and adorable) .. I am the anonymous poster, glad I could help a BUSY mom out :).
   
   As for eliminating the wobbly in the knit... I reccomend calling or visiting JoAnn fabrics or your local fabric store and ask them.. They should be able to show you the right way to do it.. I don't sew a lot of knit, so I am no help to you there.
