Mother's Day

The boys had something they wanted to say to all their wonderful grandparents and great-grandparents:

As for my Mothers Day gift:

I got this box...

I opened it and found this.

Apparently, he had been sitting in the box for two days. I didn't notice because Stevie put a onesie on a Cabbage Patch doll and the whole time I thought that was Caleb. I guess that explains why he didn't eat, sleep, cry or poop for two days straight. I just thought he was being stubborn; you know how those Serrano boys are.

At any rate, Caleb is all nourished and rehydrated now -two days in a box takes a remarkable toll on a baby's body, but he took it like a champ- so we wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. If you've ever given us or anything or helped us out, then thank you.

Rub A Dub Dub

So for weeks (okay months) I've been trying to figure out a way to bathe both babies at the same time without breaking my back or having a heart attack (slippery baby butts are the scariest) while at the same time allowing them to interact with each other and use all their fun bath toys. Sounds easy enough, huh? It actually is-the kitchen sinks! Now, the system is still flawed because I prefer to have the whole bedtime routine take place upstairs but whatever-close enough. The boys seemed to really enjoy it and we managed to get through bath prep, bath, lotion, and dressing with no meltdowns! I even hauled them upstairs at the same time, beaming with pride at my accomplishment. I then realized that I left their books downstairs and made the rookie mistake of going back to get them. Needless to say, all hell broke loose. Luckily they were pretty easy to console once I laid down with them to read. Braxton does the sweetest thing now. I lie between both of them and as I read, he sucks his thumb, looks up at me and then nuzzles his head on my shoulder for me to give him a kiss on the head. Well, I don't know if the kiss is actually his desired response, but that's what happens. Okay, here are your pictures from today.

They loooove to kiss!

'Fro babies

Looks like Caleb took a bite out of that toy

This was from a couple of days ago but I forgot to post it.

By the way...Braxton is now playing patty cake and/or cheering. We haven't really figured out which one but he's doing it! He also has his top two teeth which I will try to get a picture of tomorrow. And Caleb can point to my nose when I ask him to! Stevie says I'm just sticking my nose in his face so of course he's going to grab it, but I think he's just jealous cause Caleb pointed to it before he did.

What A Fantastic Day!

If you didn't already know, Caleb's pediatrician detected a heart murmur at his 6 month check-up that had gone unnoticed (or at least unreported) by our previous doctor. He didn't seem at all concerned but informed us that if the murmur was still present at 9 months, then we would have to have an echocardiogram (ultra-sound of the heart) to rule out any possible structural defects. As would be expected of any mother, the thought of even the possibility of a heart issue flipped my world upside down. So for the past 4 or 5 months I've secretly had mini-breakdowns every time he feels warm, sneezes, sighs, looks too quickly to the left, you name it. I've been reprimanded several times (a day) by Stevie for worrying and coddling and I knew all along he was right but what are you gonna do, right? SO...this morning we received the call from the doctor saying that CALEB'S HEART IS GREAT! THANK YOU, GOD!!! The murmur is just a result of a lot of blood flowing through a little valve (not too little, just normal baby boy little). It's 100% normal and will affect him in no way-it's just a noise. I can not even begin to explain the joy and relief I feel right now. I can finally remove the FRAGILE signs I've placed all over him and treat him like the healthy, happy, intelligent, stubborn little boy he is.

And if that wasn't enough to make my day, this happened as well!

So if you'll excuse me, I'm off to spank Caleb's little booty for all the stuff he's gotten away with these past few months.
