I came across this as I was trying to remember what the boys looked like with hair. I think he looks dreamy.
OH, I almost forgot. We had our first 9-1-1 call! Apparently, Caleb felt he was in grave danger here as he was playing in his pop-up tent. I noticed a voice coming from my locked phone and sure enough, this lady's asking "what is your emergency". Isn't it a little early for the pranks guys?
This was taken at our M.O.M.'s (Mothers of multiples) holiday party. Not to brag, but our boys were two of the very few children that didn't cry on Santa and the Mrs.' lap.
Um, I don't know.
Such a poser!

This is how I found Caleb after his nap. He INSISTS on sleeping with his feet fully dressed but is apparently far less rigid when it comes to his nether regions.
Stevie was in charge of Halloween costumes this year and after much struggling to reach a middle ground (he wanted them dressed as shirtless gladiators...I wanted them dressed as a cow and a chicken) Frankenstein was the closest we came to an agreement. They looked adorable in them but as soon as we dressed Braxton to go to the museum that Thursday, we were boldly reminded that he is not a fan of one-piece outfits. He couldn't get to his beloved belly button and we knew it would make for a less than pleasant evening if we didn't do something about it. So what did we do? We cut a slit in the center of his $35 Frankenstein costume. It took a while for him to get the logistics of his new belly hole, but eventually he figured it out and was picking away at it like nothing. Oh, and the children's museum didn't even happen- the line was wrapped around the building! You'd swear they were giving away cars in there. Maybe they were. We went out to dinner instead and the boys had a ball throwing their food onto the floor and waving at strangers.
Halloween day we had plans to trick or treat but Stevie was in super protective mode and said he didn't want us eating poisonous candied apples and razor blade chocolates. I tried to explain that all we had to do was take the candy and throw it away, but he wasn't having it. So we went to the park with all the other freak dads. It was actually a lot of fun and the boys didn't miss their candy one bit. And no one was poisoned.
Oh yeah, and THEY'RE WALKING! It's by no means their preferred mode of transportation but they can definitely do it. Look below.

We all survived! We headed for San Antonio on the Thursday before the storm hit and stayed put for the next 10 days. Thank God we never had to go a day without power (ours was restored on Friday of last week). Despite the circumstances, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay...well, aside from the countless hours a certain someone spent trying to make the boys say Grandma instead of Paw-Paw (seriously....HOURS). It became the theme of the entire trip. She even had total strangers shouting "GRAND ma, GRAND ma" at them while they stared blankly and repeated "Paw-Paw?". I'm pretty sure the boys know exactly what they're doing. They probably joked about it as soon as we laid them down for their naps, high-fiving and so on. Little buggers. Here are a few pictures from our visit. And thank you for being our FEMA during the storm:).
So we went about our normal post-nursing routine - bath, roll around on the bed, book, prayers, cuddle, bed - only we prolonged the cuddles, left out the nursing part and replaced it with a sippie cup of warmed whole milk. They were stunned to say the least. They sipped, swallowed, stared in suspense, then a huge smile spread across their faces. As we lied in the bed, they both took turns cuddling close to me and never once tried to nurse which served as a much needed confirmation that I was doing the right thing (when I really thought about it I realized that it's been quite a while since they actually initiated nursing - it's been more of a mommy led routine than anything). We layed them down as usual, they did their 3 minutes of babbling and whining, and drifted right to sleep. I couldn't have asked for a smoother experience. No sadness, no tears, nothing like I expected. I plan to continue the morning feeding and one day-time feeding for as long as it's pleasant for all of us.
*By the way, thank you so much to all you twinstuff ladies that offered your undying support, encouragement and advice over this past year (especially in those early months of clogged ducts and round-the-clock pumping;)). We wouldn't have made it without you!
Mr. August
Opposite directions....ALL DAY!
