We'll see. Saturday morning I began a running program called (you guessed it) "Couch to 5K". According to the guys of coolrunning.com, after following a gradually increasing walk/jog program, your average couch potato will be running 5K in only 9 weeks! After Saturday's run, I think I may be a few steps behind your average couch potato. I wonder if there's a "Bed Rest to 5K" program.
The steps seem simple enough to follow. For instance, this week (3 times a week) I'm to start with a 5 minute walk and then alternate 60-sec jogs with 90-sec brisk walks for a total of 30 minutes. Sounds like a piece of cake, right?...WRONG! I don't know if it was the sun, my 4-year-old tennis shoes, or my complete lack of athletic coordination, but that was the most grueling and awkward 30 minutes of my life. And I'm lying! I only did 20! I felt like I weighed 400 pounds. With every jogging step I took I had to look down to see if I'd cracked the sidewalk beneath me. But despite my disheartening first attempt, I will press on and try again this evening.
Why? Two reasons: One, because for as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be able to go to a gym or a track and actually run for a significant amount of time. I've just never been able to breath past half a mile. And two, because in my newly unemployed state, I can no longer justify $30 a month for my gym membership that gets used 30 times a year. In other words, running is free. And why wouldn't it be...it sucks.
So my purpose for this post is to let people know that this is my goal. Maybe you guys will make me feel a bit more accountable than Caleb and Braxton have. I asked them this morning if it was okay for me to quit already and they seemed totally fine with it. They just smiled and threw their hands up in what I believe was celebration. Thanks boys. You love me just the way I am:)
Okay, I know you guys don't check this site to hear about the parents, so here you go...
P.S. They have been smiling "for real" for the past couple of weeks. Their little gummy grins are just ADORABLE!
Believe it or not, they were really loving this.

You are not alone in the running department...I am going to look into this program too.
I'm with you and I totally read blogs for hte parents as much as the kids so please keep us posted on how this is going for you - I'm adding your feed to my reader - your boys are beautiful! Good luck with the running....
